Sunday - bakingday

- Was a perfect day and weekend!

Yesterday I stubbled over the confectioner's shop named 'Konditori Antoinette', which is situated in Østergade, CHP. What a great surprise it was to taste the so-called 'Afternoon-tea', which is so much more than a good cup of tea (Kusmi - lemon and vanilla). There were small and a few pieces of sandwiches, bruschetta and different kinds of cakes, from brownie, to cream puffs, cream cakes etc. - in total only 145 kr for two persons.

A few hours and some walking later (from one end of 'Strøget' to the other end. Yes, IT IS a longer walk, when it's winter time in Denmark and your feet and the pavements don't cooperate because of the slippery snow) we decided to have sushi at the Haiku Sushi. Sticks 'n' Sushi go home! Seriously, this sushi restaurant takes you somewhere far away from DK, it might as well be somewhere in Japan. Besides the starters, edamame beans, miso soup and kimchi we enjoyed sashimi (salmon, tuna, kingfish, scallop and lots of dakon (kinaradisser)) and of course the ordinary sushi.
However, it was a kind I've never tasted before. Inside-out sushi with mango, tempura and strawberry among others (Combination C: 'Happy together Roll' and 'California Roll').
What a delight!
Afterwards I was actually craving for their ice cream. It's not a typical kind of ice cream, it's ice cream with two scoops of red beans and a scoop of green tea. Unfortunately they were sold-out, which was probably for the best. You can find this delicious Japanese Restaurant near Strøget as well, Nytorv 19 CPH to be more accurate :)

Today was the big baking day! My last real day of holiday before the whole charade continues once again. Well, I shouldn't complain. Back to the story, the baking day brought me lots of baking energy, so now my kitchen table is filled with not only carrot and sesame buns, but also pigs in a blanket (who would have guessed that's the English word for 'Sausage horn', which is the direct translation of the Danish word 'Pølsehorn') and last, but not least cream buns, which were made successfully (finally! It's not always easy to make these small creations precisely as you want them).
Pictures will be uploaded the coming days :)

The carrot/sesame buns recipe, although it's in Danish.

50 g gær
5 dl lunkent vand
300 g sigtemel
700-800 g hvedemel
75 g rørsukker
15 g havsalt
75 g blødt smør
2 æg
150 g solsikkekerner

Avatar

I must admit, this movie surprised more than one way. Until yesterday I didn't really understand all the fuzz about it, but now I'm just one of the several milions who's caught by the stream of Avatar. However, without the following media mentioned depression, which apparently several citizens of the USA are suffering from.
The scenery throughout this movie is spectacular, outstanding and most of all fascinating! Most important of all, this movie touched me in ways I didn't thought possible.
To put it briefly: you have to see this movie!

From the Philippines to Denmark

From bare feet to boots
From T-shirt to jacket
From summer to winter
From no helmets to helmets
From fresh and ripe fruit to imported unripe fruit
From lots of different kinds of fresh fish and seafood to the more limited selection of fish and seafood
From rice to breakfast every single day to oatmeal with imported unripe fruit
From a simple more spartan kind of existence to a more complicated way of living
From a barrato kaayo way of living to a more expensive country

PINOY MUSIC

Pop music in the Philippines is quite popular, not only does it dominate the whole music scene when it comes to live music, but also the radio, television, videoke, karaoke etc.
Pop music as in Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, Rihanna, Beyonce and other typical pop tracks. Besides the more Americanized music the following two music videos represent Filipino pop music, especially here in Cebu City.

This first one is obviously being played all the time because of the soon-coming Sinulog Festival.

Wondergirls with the song Nobody... the song irritated me so much in the beginning, must I must say that now it only gives me good associations.
